FRANKLIN — Jacqueline Bryant “Jackie” McGhee, 81, passed away on Feb. 20, 2017, in Southampton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. McGhee was a native of Southampton County, and was a daughter of the late Jack and Kate Coggsdale Bryant.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Robert Gilliam McGhee; three sisters, Janie Griffin, Evelyn Howard and Gladys Whalin; and two nephews, Ernest Griffin and Jimmy Griffin.
Jackie was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church where she kept the nursery for many years.
She retired as the office manager of the Insurance Department at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Prior to that she was the office manager for 25 years for the OBGYN Physicians in Franklin.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Terry M. Blythe (Danny Ray Drake), Allison M. Duck (Ed Marks); two sisters, Barbara Babb (Ralph) and Irma Howard; a devoted son-in-law, Glen Duck; six grandchildren, Courtney B. Jackson (Jeff), Kirstin B. Riddle (Stephen), Chelsea B. Garner (Shawn), Jackie D. Richards (Cody), Megan E. Duck and R. Benjamin Duck; four great-grandchildren, Chase and Elani Jackson, Gilly Riddle and Letty Garner; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, in the Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating. The burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall following the burial, and suggests memorial donations be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk VA 23502.
