FORD — Herman Wilson Overby Jr., 64, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at his residence.

Born on May 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Herman Wilson Sr. and Ella Jean Overby.
He was a member of Matoaca Methodist Church.
Herman was an insurance agent with Lundie Insurance and had retired from State Farm after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his sons, Russell Leigh Overby, Christopher Ryan Overby and wife, Robin Lynn; grandchildren, Alyssa and Regan Overby; devoted companion, Jane R. Martin; brother, Milton Ray Overby; and numerous friends and customers.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, in Boykins United Methodist Church, 32167 S. Main St., Boykins, Virginia, with Pastors Michael Baugham and Heewon Cho officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
