James J. Raiford Jr., 72, died on Jan. 15, 2017.
James was the son of the late Pearl J. and James J. Raiford Sr.
James worked for many years for Masonite Corporation, on the family farm and as a general contractor. He was a very hard-working man and was very resourceful working with his hands.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Edwards and husband, Kent, of Wakefield, Virginia; and Melissa Griffin and husband, David, of Suffolk; grandchildren, Bryan Edwards and fiancée, Brittany; and Ben Griffin; great-grandson, Jakob Edwards; sister, Judy Carr; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also survived by his two special cats, Mittens and FiFi.
The family received friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
