Charlie Clifton Daughtrey Sr.

SUFFOLK — Charlie Clifton Daughtrey Sr., 84, passed away on Jan. 17, 2017, at the East Pavilion in Franklin.

Cliff was a native of Nansemond County, and a son of the late Charlie Exum Daughtrey and Effie Clara Bradshaw Daughtrey. He was also predeceased by a brother, Raymond B. Daughtrey.

Cliff was a graduate of Holland High School, and a member of South Quay Baptist Church.

He was a longtime farmer and co-owner of Evelyn’s Peanuts.

A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Parker Daughtrey; one son, Charlie Daughtrey Jr. (Nell); two daughters, Linda Eure (Ritchie) and Jean Hall (Gary); grandchildren, Jeremy Daughtrey, Nathan Eure (Sarah), Josh Eure, Andrew Hall and Ashley Hall; a great-grandchild, Ethan Daughtrey, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn C. Daughtrey.

The memorial service was on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m. in South Quay Baptist Church, 9617 South Quay Road, Suffolk, with the Rev. Wade Bennett and the Rev. Amos Eby officiating. The burial was private.

The family received friends following the service in the church fellowship hall, and suggests memorials be made to South Quay Baptist Church, c/o Faye Spivey, 7105 Old South Quay Road, Suffolk, VA 23437.
