U.S. News and World Report has also named Courtland Health and Rehabilitation Center one of the best nursing care facilities in Virginia for 2016.
The magazine used data from Medicare and Medicaid services to compile its 2016 report on the best nursing homes across the country, which evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide. Of the 2,000 nursing homes nationwide to receive the “best nursing home” designation, 38 of them, including Courtland Health and Rehabilitation Center, are in Virginia.
The magazine’s criteria for evaluation included performance ratings and ratings for key services over a 12-month period.
Anita Willis, administrator for Courtland Health and Rehab, was excited to learn her facility had been named.
“It is extraordinary, in my experience, to have not one but two facilities within 10 miles of one another to appear on the list,” Willis said. “With only 38 nursing homes in Virginia being selected, I feel the fact that there are two in this rural area is reflective of the high standards both facilities strive to achieve.”
The second facility within 10 miles to receive the “best nursing home” designation that Willis references is the East Pavilion Nursing Home in Franklin. The list was first released in mid-November 2016.
