Warren R. Sublett

RICHMOND — Warren Rayford “Ray” Sublett was born April 14, 1935, in Charlotte County, Virginia. He passed away at Hunter Homes McGuire Veterans Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, on Jan. 7, 2017.

He was the son of the late Joseph Warren Sublett and Ollie Harper Sublett.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Overby Sublett of Henrico, North Carolina; his daughter, Bobbi Sublett Hickman and son-in-law, Dwayne Hickman, of Henrico; his sister-in-law, Shirley Overby of Drewryville, Virginia.; his sister, Ruby Elder (Donald) and brother, R. Donald Sublett (Janet), all of Phenix, Virginia; and nieces and nephews.

He was a disabled veteran of the Navy; a graduate of and instructor at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice School in Portsmouth, Virginia; and a longtime employee of Hancock Peanut Co./The Original Nut House in Courtland, Virginia.

He was also a longtime resident of Southampton County, Virginia.

Ray was currently a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony, Virginia, and a former member of the Prospect United Methodist Men.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of Prospect United Methodist Church, Ebony, or the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

The memorial service will be held at a later date.

Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, Virginia, will be handling the arrangements.
