All local public schools in the Western Tidewater area will remain closed on Wednesday due to lingering hazardous road conditions from winter storm Helena.

Franklin City Public Schools and Southampton Public Schools both announced they will be closed tomorrow, to include all school offices.

Isle of Wight County Schools also announced their closing on Tuesday afternoon. According to Lynn Briggs, IWCS director of gifted services, community and media relations, the closing applies to all students and 10- and 11-month employees. Twelve-month employees will report on Wednesday.

After school activities for IWCS are likewise cancelled for Wednesday.
