CARRSVILLE
Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 17, crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will temporarily close Old Myrtle Road (state route 632) for the purpose of demolishing the old Carrsville Bridge. The closure will last up to 90 days and will allow VDOT crews to install pier foundations and girders for the new bridge.
VDOT advises motorists to follow the signed detour. Emergency vehicles will always be able to access the roadway. Local traffic should not attempt to drive through the work zone.
The Carrsville Bridge replacement project has been underway since March 2016 and is scheduled for completion in November. The project will replace the existing bridge over the CSX Railroad on U.S. Route 58 and will require the installation of stormwater facilities. All construction work is dependent upon weather conditions.
During the project, Carrsville Highway (Route 58) will be closed and a signed detour will be in place.
