The Colonial Heights Colonials made easy work of the Windsor High School Dukes in the first night of the Franklin High School Broncos Christmas basketball tournament. Playing at the Peggy Wilkins Gym in Franklin High on Tuesday, the Colonials had no problems in a commanding 84-34 win over the Dukes.
The Colonials used a full-court press force for most of the first half, which resulted in many turnovers on the Dukes. After opening the first quarter with a 22-6 lead over the Dukes, the Colonials easily ran the score up to 44-10 by the end of the first half. Upon having such a commanding lead, the Colonials did use many of their bench players, and in the second half officials went with a running clock.
In scoring the Dukes had one player, Troy Brauy, in double figures with 13 points.
For the Colonials they had four players in double figures. They were led by Brandon Smith with 18 points, followed by Lorenzo Minter with 13 points, Deion Storar with 12 points and Josh Meyer scored 11 points.
