SEDLEY — Alvin Smith Bradshaw, 64, passed away on Dec. 14, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family after a seven-month battle with cancer.

Alvin was a native of Franklin and was a son of the late August and Lillie Turner Bradshaw.
He was a longtime farmer, a former National Guardsman and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting ,fishing and his pets.
He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Brenda Ellis Bradshaw; three daughters. Christy Marie Bradshaw (Duane), Angela Virginia Whitby (Cody) and Brandi Danielle Bradshaw; three granddaughters, Chelsea Vick, Morgan Werner and Autumn Whitby; two sisters, Irene Raiford (Ed) and Jean Stephenson (Skip); one brother, Larry Bradshaw (Debbie); a brother-in-law, Wayne Ellis (Barbara); Aunt Doris,; and a host of cousins and family friends.
He also leaves his beloved dog, Rusty, a grand dog Bandit and his many cats.
The memorial service will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence, and suggests that memorial donations be made to either the Sedley Fire Department, P.O. Box 86, Sedley, VA 23878, or the Hunterdale Fire Department, 201 Delaware Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
