Victor C. Grettum

RICHMOND — Victor Charles Grettum (Vic) passed peacefully Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 in Richmond, VA. Victor was always known for his inclusive attitude, love of family, friends, the “ranch”, and Lake Gaston.

He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Faye, his “younger” brother Don Grettum of Cupertino, CA, his daughters, Debbie Vann (J. D. Vann) of Courtland, VA; Cathy Grettum of Soquel, CA, and Gail Campbell (Harold Campbell) of Richmond, VA; his sons Keith Medlock (Cathy Medlock) of Alpharetta, GA, and Mark Medlock of Wilmington, NC. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Jack Grettum, his first wife, Reba Jeannette, and his son, Stephen Victor Grettum.

His special joys were his grandchildren Christopher Martin, Debra-Gail Martin, Jason Vann, Sarah Campbell, Elizabeth Medlock, Kathleen Medlock, John Medlock and Paul Medlock and his great granddaughter, Corinne Martin.

Vic loved to volunteer his time to KIPP school, Habitat for Humanity and to building churches in Nicaragua and Haiti.

He had a varied and successful career in “Paper Making” be it as a salesman, an engineer, or as a designer of paper making machines. He was instrumental in the design, construction and start up of Union Camp’s “State of the Art” paper mill in Eastover, South Carolina.

It was his humor, kindness, generosity and individuality that will be cherished and remembered by those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
