SUFFOLK — Peggy Ann Brinkley Arrington, 81, widow of George Fitzhugh Arrington, passed away on Dec. 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and friends in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Peggy, a native of Nansemond County, was a retired private duty nurse and worked for the Children’s Center and Suffolk Christian School.

She was a member of Holland Baptist Church and its WMU, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4411, High Street Senior Citizens and the Senior Circle of Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet (Lee) Joyner, JoAnn Booth and Judy (Gary) Pope; her son, Michael (Glynda) Arrington; son-in-law, Johnny Booth; brother; Jimmy (Barbara) Brinkley; seven grandchildren, Stephen (Savannah) Arrington, Rebecca (Trey) McGrath, Leigh Ann (Craig) Fillmore, Brian (Kelly) Joyner, Daniel Booth, Jonathan Booth and Amanda (Chris) Moon; 10 great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Bear Arrington, Micah and Levi McGrath, Connor and Kayleigh Fillmore, Christine and Caleb Booth and Ayden and Kirsten Moon; and a special sister-in-law, Betty (Jack) Umphlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, (on George’s 86th birthday) in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Matthew Johnson, the Rev. Stephen Arrington (grandson), the Rev. Howard Vinson and the Rev. Bill Arrington (nephew) officiating. Burial followed in Southampton Memorial Park.

There was a reception following the burial at Holland Baptist Church.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home and other times at the residence of Trey and Rebecca McGrath, 26454 Pine Haven, Courtland.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff of the East Pavilion for the care and love shown their mother.
