ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.
Jordan Baines scored 19 points to lead all scorers as Isle of Wight Academy defeated Albemarle School 64-33 here on Friday to remain unbeaten.

Grant Worthy scored 11 points and 11 other Chargers scored as the team marched to its fourth consecutive win.

IWA scored 22 of the first 29 first-quarter points thanks to Baines’ aggressive style; he had 11 points during that span. The Chargers outscored the Colts 19-10 in the second quarter and 15-7 in the third but were bested by Albemarle 9-8 in the fourth quarter when IWA already lead 56-24 at the quarter’s beginning.

Worthy’s 9 points — including two 3-pointers — in the third was the highest quarterly output of any IWA player other than Baines.

Earlier in the week, IWA knocked off its old Virginia Commonwealth Conference foe Brunswick Academy 72-25 in Lawrenceville, Virginia.

Baines had 22 points and Worthy, 14, as the Chargers repelled the Vikings. Hunter Hayden had 9 points among seven other Chargers to score.

The Chargers reeled off the game’s first 8 points and Brunswick could get no closer than 13 points, despite a 23-point scoring effort by their Bryant Porch, who as 15-for-23 from the line. The Chargers committed 25 personal fouls in the game to Brunswick’s 15 in a contentious contest typical between familiar rivals.

IWA hosted Alliance Christian in its Metro Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday, then Portsmouth Christian at home Friday.
