CARRSVILLE — Gladys Wright Miles passed away on Nov. 23, 2016, at the age of 94.

She was born in Nansemond County and moved with her family to Carrsville at an early age. Gladys was the daughter of the late Carrie Cook Wright and James Harrison Wright.

She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil L. Miles; and her brothers, Adron L. Wright and James DeWitt Wright Sr., formerly of Carrsville.

Gladys was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Gladys is survived by her nieces and nephew, Sylvia Rose Wright of Carrsville/Richmond; Hilda Wright Harmon and husband, Carl, of Carrsville; and James DeWitt “Jim” Wright Jr. and wife, Darnell, also of Carrsville; her great-niece and great-nephew, Carrie J. Harmon of Elizabethtown, North Carolina; and Whitney W. Wright and wife, Samantha, of Centreville, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 7 to 8 p.m. at 5529 Old Carrsville Road, Carrsville.

Burial will be private.
