Pastor offers suggestions to better our lives

To the Editor:

I keep hearing that our nation is divided. That makes me sad. So, being a man of simplicity, I came up with a simple plan that may, I pray, begin the unity we need. It won’t solve all our problems, but it surely can’t hurt to try.

When you arise from your night’s sleep, thank God for another day. Forget the past. It is dead, and traditionally we bury dead things.

When you leave home on your way to wherever, say to yourself, “Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I will live it to the fullest.”

Since we are a very diverse nation, and you — as well as myself — are having problems with it, remember what is imprinted on the bottom of the Statute of Liberty.

Also, allow me to suggest how you can communicate with everyone from any nation, color, class or creed. Give them a huge smile, which is understood in any language.

Someone once said, “You can love the hell out of most people.” But the holy Bible says it best: “And now abideth faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).

Try it — it works.!
