New butcher shop will be good for community

To the Editor:

I was very excited when I heard about Chris Jernigan opening a butcher’s shop in Boykins, Virginia! Growing up in Franklin, I noticed it was always a little bit harder to get to certain resources because of the location. I like his reasoning for opening the shop in Boykins being “its once-thriving downtown community and the current need for residents to travel outside of town, sometimes as far as Franklin or Murfeesboro, North Carolina, to buy groceries.”

Having this shop open will help people save time, money and increase opportunities for many. It was also very insightful that he mentioned all animals would come pre-slaughtered.

Having someone that is originally from the area run the business is very comforting since he understands the sometimes-struggles of living in a small area where not much is available to you.

I’m excited to see where this goes!
