Bare cupboards need your help now

When you’re making your grocery list for this weekend’s shopping, please add Franklin Cooperative Ministry. As reported last Sunday, director Veronica Ferguson reported that the agency is in great need of contributions of both food and hygiene items that could help residents in need this Thanksgiving, Christmas and into the winter months.
The horn of plenty that was supplied through past generosity of the Bronco Federal Credit Union among other donors now needs public support. If everyone would just add a few canned goods, non-perishables or even toiletries to be donated, that would go a long way to restocking the shelves. Don’t forget to check at home for coats or sweaters no longer being worn; those are also welcome.
If you’re worried that the contributions will be handed out willy-nilly to folks just seeking a quick handout, be assured that people seeking help are thoroughly interviewed to ensure the needs are genuine.
Shoppers can bring in the items they’ve bought, or bring monetary donations to enable staff to purchase what’s needed.
The agency is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.; Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.
FCM is located at 301 W. First Ave., Franklin. Call 516-6322 for more information.
