Southampton High School senior Skyler Bagnall, recently submitted her letter of intent to attend Richard Bland College and play on the college’s softball team. She is a resident of Ivor and currently is a shortstop for Southampton’s softball team.

According to Richard Bland’s first-year softball head coach, Katy Lampman, Bagnall is a power hitter from the right side with speed.

“Skyler is a talented shortstop with great range,” Lampman said. “She is a fun athlete to watch… she loves to compete and has an infectious, positive attitude, which makes her a great addition to our program.”

Last year, Bagnall was selected as first team all district and first team all conference shortstop.

Other high school seniors from Virginia who will play alongside Bagnall as freshmen include Taylor Bilyard of Culpeper, Morgan Foy of Chesapeake, Allison Jarrett of Virginia Beach, Libby Hendrickson of Chesterfield and Kayla Shaffer of Henrico.

“I am very excited about our 2017 signees,” Lampman said. “As a class, they bring a lot of power and strength both in the circle and at the plate. These student-athletes will be great additions to our team and our mission here at Richard Bland.”

Richard Bland will open its 2017 softball campaign at the NJCAA JUCO Kickoff Classic on Jan. 27-29 in Clearwater, Florida.
