Jennifer Riddick, a teacher at Isle of Wight Academy, was named girls cross country coach of the year as part of the 2016 All-Metro-Conference teams released on Saturday at the conference cross country meet at Broadwater Academy.

Four boys’ teams and two girls’ teams, along with individuals from other conference schools, competed on the 5,000-meter course. Forty-two boys and 24 girls ran in the varsity race. To have a team, each school must have at least five runners on their team. Isle of Wight Academy won the boys’ division with 42 points, followed by Broadwater Academy with 51 points.

In the girls’ competition, Kaelyn Hooker came in second with a time of 21:22 and Olivia Upton finished third at 23:16. In the boys’ race, IWA’s Lucas Baylous finished fifth with a time of 19:23, ahead of fellow Chargers Chad Daniel at 19:32 and Riley Newsome at 19:59.

Elsewhere, Isle of Wight Academy seniors Ashley Petroski and Mackenzie Terry were named to the 2016 Girls’ All-Metro-Conference Volleyball Team.
