FRANKLIN — Rubin Edward Story Sr., 89, widower of Nell Daughtrey Story, passed away on Oct. 29, 2016.
Mr. Story was a native of Southampton County, a son of the late John Otis and Nancy Harcum Story, and was also predeceased by a grandchild, Brandon Walker; a sister, Inez Worrell; and a brother, Elliott Story.
He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and a retired produce manager for A&P.
He was an Army veteran of WWII.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Whaley (Mark), Cindy Walker (Larry); four sons, Ken Story (Debbie), Rubin Story Jr. (Kaye), Wayne Story (Betty) and Glenn Story (Wanda); a sister, Shirley Ross; 14 grandchildren, Stephanie Duke, Dana Jones, Angela Pittman, Jason and Brian Cross, Kristy Pearce, Stacy Story, Angel Clarke, Larry Walker Jr., Sara Story, Lauren Morgan, Ashley Morris, John Fowler and Holly Ferrell; and 24 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Children/s Hospital of the Kings Daughter, P.O. Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501.
