FRANKLIN — Susan Elaine Spruill, 61, passed away on Oct. 17, 2016, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Susan was born in Suffolk and reared in Como, North Carolina, and was a graduate of Murfreesboro High School and Chowan University.

She was a member of Sunbeam Baptist Church and a retired daycare center manager. She loved children.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Tony L. “TJ” Savage Jr.; her mother, Margaret Modlin Spruill; her sister, Gail Spruill Jones (George); and a niece, Jennifer Edwards.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Williams and the Rev. Stephen Johnson. The burial followed at Buckhorn Baptist Church in Como.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and suggest that memorial donations be made to the Suffolk Animal Care Center, 124 Forest Glen Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434; or the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
