SHS girls volleyball defeats Franklin

COURTLAND
Southampton High School’s varsity girls volleyball team defeated Franklin on Wednesday. They are currently 13-2 for the season. Last week they defeated Windsor, Brunswick and Greensville, and earlier this week they lost to Park View.
Highlights from the match against Franklin included Emma Drake making 14 kills and two blocks. Sarah Williams had three aces and seven kills. Ashlyn Edwards had 11 assists. Janey Bunn had 15 assists and two aces. Madison Wright had two aces, four kills and three saves.
Monday, Oct. 24 marks the start of the team’s last week of regular season play. The team will host Franklin on Tuesday for Southampton’s senior night and travel to Surry on Thursday for the last regular season game.
Southampton’s JV team is also doing well. They defeated Windsor, Brunswick and Greensville last week. They also defeated Park View and Franklin this week.
Highlights from this week’s games were as follows: Hope Bunn had five aces and five kills. Kinna Magette had nine assists and two aces. Emma McClelland had seven assists and three kills.
