CARRSVILLE
A Capron man died on Tuesday morning after sustaining critical injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Monday afternoon, which took place at the intersection of Carrsville Highway and Jenkins Mill Road in Isle of Wight County. The report came from Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.

Lessly Artis, 69, of the 2100 block of Barrow Road in Capron, lost control of his 2000 Dodge Dakota when it was struck by a 2016 Dodge Dart, which was being driven by Danielle T. Bess, 22, of the 4400 block of Dukes Lane, Franklin.

According to the report, Bess attempted to pull out and make a left turn in front of Artis, who was traveling eastward.

He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Virginia State Police said that both drivers were not wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.

Bess sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was charged with failure to yield right of way.
