FRANKLIN — Edward Hunter Blythe Jr., 76, passed peacefully at his home on Sept. 28, 2016.

He was born in Franklin, Virginia, on May 23, 1940, and was predeceased by his parents, Mildred Lankford Blythe and Edward H. Blythe Sr., and an infant son.

Ed attended Franklin High School before serving in the Marine Corps. He retired from Union Camp Corporation after 30 years as a pulp mill foreman and was also a real estate broker.

Cherishing memories are his wife of 50 years, Jackie Dampier Blythe; two sons, Blake, and wife, Beth, of Louisville, Kentucky; Brad, and wife, Heather, of Evergreen, Colorado; his sister, Sandra, and husband, John I., of Franklin; three grandsons, Hunter, Davis and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed will always be remembered for his kindness and devotion to his family.

A remembrance of his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Franklin. He will be honored in a military service by the Rev. J. Seth Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter, 6350 Center Dr., Suite 102, Norfolk, VA, 23502, or to the Courtland Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 439, Courtland, VA, 23837.
