CARRSVILLE
A Carrsville man is reported dead due to a traffic accident on Sunday, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police. She stated that the VSP were called at approximately 2:08 a.m. to investigate the report of a two-car accident on Interstate 64 east of Military Highway in Chesapeake.
“The driver of a 2012 Freightliner tractor trailer stopped in the right lane of travel due to a tree that was in and blocking the roadway. Shortly after, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Anthony E. Longoria, ran into the rear of the tractor trailer. Mr. Longoria suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Norfolk Sentara Hospital where he later died of his injuries,” Anaya stated in a press release on Monday.
She added that it’s unknown so far if alcohol was a contributing factor, but that Longoria was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
“Tony did some DJ-ing for us,” said David Rabil of Fred’s Restaurant in downtown Franklin. “He was a good guy. He was always willing to help and make things happen around when he did DJ.”
The popular entertainer was apparently a regular at wedding receptions, parties sometimes before and after Thanksgiving in the restaurant, the We Be Jammin’ series downtown and was famous for foam parties.
“We’re going to miss him,” Rabil said. “I think the whole area will.”
