SHS students express appreciation

Being an officer is a very demanding and dangerous job. An officer never knows what is to come upon arrival to their job. That’s what makes them so brave.

They put other’s lives before their own. They leave their homes not knowing if they may return in the same state they left in.

Our local resource officer, Officer Keith Rose, is a very brave man. He has spent many years doing his job with dignity, caring for others and serving his community.

Officer Rose does everything from direct the busy morning traffic to walking the halls of Southampton High School to make sure all of its students are safe. He always has a helping hand to help anyone who may need it. With a warm smile and a joyful personality, he greets the students of Southampton High every morning. Everyone knows that if you are ever to have a problem, Officer Rose is the perfect person to talk to.

Coming in to work, I’m sure Officer Rose has no idea what a day at our school may bring. It’s people like him that we need more of in this world. One day at a time, Officer Rose changes lives. This is why Southampton High School appreciates him.

In the past year there have been conflicts in many communities involving police and law enforcement. Well, I am here to tell you that my school is different and has an amazing resource officer. His name is Keith Rose. Officer Rose has been working at Southampton High School for six years.

You walk into school at 8 a.m. and you will see him in the hallways smiling. He is watching everyone and making sure all of the students are doing what they are suppose to do.

I remember my freshman year; I was being bullied on my bus, I went straight to Officer Rose. I was really scared because they were older than me, as soon as I told him he looked me in the eye and said, “I am here to keep everyone safe, and I do mean everyone.”

When I got on the bus that afternoon, no one said anything to me. I don’t know exactly what he said to them, but I was never scared to get on that bus again.

Mr. Rose helped me and I will always look up to him. I am sure that there are other people who represent law enforcement just as well, but Officer Rose is more than just a resource officer at Southampton High School. He has a family, a church parish and a school full of students that look up to him.
