The second annual Neighborhood Block Party fundraiser at the Village at Wood’s Edge assisted living facility, raised over $15,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association on Thursday, Sept. 22.
The event included a barbecue dinner catered by The Village Back Porch and Grille at 6 p.m., an open bar and live musical entertainment by The One Way, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association.
By the end of the party, Billie Turner, The Village’s executive director, presented a check of $15,196 to representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association.
“The support of this fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association has been remarkable,” Turner said. “Village residents, family members, friends of The Village, and local businesses… we all came together. This donation far exceeded our fundraising goals and could not have been possible without the support from the community.”
The Alzheimer’s Association is a national 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, provide and enhance care for all those affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through promotion of brain health.
