FRANKLIN
Traffic is being rerouted through downtown Franklin following the closing of U.S. Route 58 East due to flooding. According to VDOT, both north and southbound lanes on Delaware Rd. (VA Route 687) are also flooded and have been closed.

“We’re asking state police and any off-duty officers to come in and assist with traffic control,” said Captain Timothy Whitt of the City of Franklin Police Department.

Isle of Wight and Southampton County school districts have both closed for the day.
