FRANKLIN — Ann Mann Porter, 85, our loving wife and mother, passed away on July 30, 2016.
A native of Covington, she was the daughter of the late Paul Garrison and Mildred Kelley Mann, and was a 1953 graduate of Radford College.
She was active in Franklin Little Theatre and enjoyed playing mahjong and traveling with her husband. Ann was a volunteer for the Library of Congress writing personal histories of local veterans in the “Veteran History Project.”
Ann started the Ladies Investment Club in Franklin and was a member of the DAR.
She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, M. Gilbert Porter; her daughter, Kelley P. Allen and husband, Randy, of Boerne, Texas; her son, Gregory Scott Porter and his wife, Alysa, of Windsor; a brother, David Mann of Covington; and three grandchildren, Brittany Perry, Justin Porter and Porter Allen.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in High Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nathan Decker officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to HSUMC or the Alzheimer’s Association.
