WALTERS — Ann Lockey “Granny” Harrell, 79, widow of Lewis Rawls Harrell, passed away peacefully at her home on July 21, 2016.

Ann “Granny” was born in Lumberton, North Carolina, to the late Roy Franklin Lockey Sr. and Lille Mae Blackmon Lockey. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Dooley; two sisters, Pauline L. Umphlette and Josephine L. Gwaltney; and two brothers, Roy F. Lockey, Jr. and Albert J. Lockey.

Ann was a stay-at-home mother who raised her children and grandchildren, enjoyed selling Avon for 30 years and gardening.

She was a member of Holland Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Sandra H. Padgett, Deborah H. Williams, Jackie H. Cobb, Rebecca H. Bishop, Connie Plummer and Elaine Freim; son, John Johnston; 12 grandchildren, Josh Cobb, Brian Padgett, Randy Cobb, Michael Padgett, Elizabeth C. Gadsby, Casey Williams, John M. Bishop III, Cindy Petrella, Beth Plummer, Wesley Plummer, Robb Jones Jr. and Jennifer Jones; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 25, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Johnson officiating. The burial will follow at Holland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and other times at Mrs. Harrell’s home.
