Suspect in Bronco robbery arrested

Officers of the Franklin Police Department arrested a man in regards to a robbery that took place at the Bronco Federal Credit Union on Friday.

DeWayne M. Reid, of the 200 Block of Bracey Street, Franklin, was arrested and charged with robbery and remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

Upon arrival at the Credit Union, officers learned that a 67-year-old female, Ivor resident, had made a withdrawal and when walking in the parking lot she was approached by Reid. Reid grabbed the envelope from the woman and the two struggled before he was able to get the money and flee on a bicycle.

The victim sustained minor injuries in the struggle.

A description of Reid was broadcasted and the officers were able to locate a person who matched it. After a foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended and the victim was able to identify Reid as her attacker.
