CARRSVILLE — Elvin “Buddy” Hart Porter Jr., 66, passed away on July 4, 2016.

He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, a son of the late Elvin Hart Porter and Doris Thomas Woodruff. He was also predeceased by his brother, Fred Porter.

Buddy retired after 33 years as a boilermaker at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

He loved working in his garden and enjoyed spending time in his garage.

He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Eleanor “Abby” Gayle Lease Porter; daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca Anne Lee (David) and Catherine Lee Porter; grandchildren, Jacob and Samantha Smith and Brandon Lee; sisters, Sylvia Vaughan and Sara Wright; and nephews, Reid and John Jett and Danny Porter.

The Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m., in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
