BURDETTE — Ruby Wade Vaughan, 86, passed away on June 26, 2016.

Ruby was a native of Southampton County, and was a daughter of the late Willie Edward Wade and Sarah Luter Wade. She was also predeceased by her husband, William W. Vaughan Jr.; two sisters and two brothers, Frances Councill, Catherine McGeoch, Owen Wade and Leon Wade.

Ruby was a member of Burdette Baptist Church, and was a 1947 graduate of Ivor High School.

She loved the outdoors, live music, dancing and family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, June Vaughan Hill of Richmond, Donna Vaughan Beale (Benjamin) of Courtland and Tammy Vaughan Newsom (Wendell) of Burdette; five grandchildren, Sarah E. Hill, Alison R. Hill, Zoe R. Beale, Jacob L. Beale and William L. Newsom; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, in Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and other times at Ruby’s home in Burdette.

Ruby’s wishes were for those who choose to remember her, to give money to someone who needs it (because she did).
