Eunice Munford Whitley

FRANKLIN — Eunice Irene “Nannie” Munford Whitley, 80, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 25, 2016.
A native of Franklin, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jasper J. Munford Sr. and Ella Cobb Munford, and was also predeceased by her husband, Frank H. Whitley Sr.; and a sister, Brenda Bandy.
She retired from Obici Hospital as an ER clerk, and then retired from Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Floyd (Jeff) of Courtland and Beth W. Turner (KT) of Franklin; a son, Frank H. Whitley Jr. (Patty) of Suffolk; seven wonderful grandchildren, Candace (Candy) Saunders (Woody), Jonathan Whitley, Christopher “Chris” Whitley (Jules), Kevin Whitley, Katelyn Duck, Jeffrey Floyd Jr. and Ciara Ford (Danny); 10 great-grandchildren, Summer Saunders, Brandon Saunders, Emerson Whitley, Alexis Parker, Zavion Parker, Raleigh Floyd, Kearah Ward, Kylie Ford, Alex and Lily Ford; a wonderful sister-in-law, Mildred Gwaltney King, who has treated her like a sister; brothers, Randy Munford, Jasper J. Munford Jr.; sisters, Mary Darden, Shirley Vasser and Sally Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Porter officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Eunice Whitley at www.alz.org.
