To the Editor:
On behalf of the 2016 Franklin Southampton Relay For Life I would like to thank the community and all who supported this year’s event.
Our second year in Franklin at the Armory Field was a huge success with more teams, bigger crowds and more donations of time and money from everyone.
So much goes into making a day like this a success and there is no way I can thank all of the people involved and I know I would miss someone or organization if I tried. Please know that all are greatly appreciated!
We had 24 teams and 283 individuals registered for this year’s event and to date we have raised $70,861.43. We celebrated our survivors on June 2 with a wonderful dinner and program at the Workforce Center and then continued on June 4 with music, food, contest, children’s activities and much, much more.
Our evening ended with the Beautiful Luminaria Ceremony where we remember those we have lost to cancer and celebrate those who are surviving and fighting the fight.
All of us involved in Relay hope that one day there will not be a need to Relay because we will have a cure for cancer!
Our goal for this year is $75,000 and we have until Aug. 31 to meet that goal. We hope to meet and exceed that goal with your help.
If you would like to make a donation or if you would like to be more involved with Relay, please let us know.
Thank you for helping the Franklin Southampton Relay For Life “Paint the World Purple!”
Cindy Cotton,
Event Team Leader
