Community leaders celebrated the opening of a new comprehensive community healthcare center in Armory Plaza on Tuesday.

“This has been a collaborative effort,” Southeastern Virginia Health System CEO Angela Futrell said before the ribbon cutting. “It’s been a labor of love and a lot of hard work and we just want to thank the people of Franklin for welcoming us to this area.”

According to its mission statement, the Franklin Community Health Care Center, like SEVHS’ eight other locations, will offer the community high quality, comprehensive, affordable healthcare and wellness services for all.

Services include family practice doctors, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, immunizations, school physicals, referrals to specialty care, dental services and case management in areas such as perinatal medicine, pediatrics, adult care and HIV/AIDs patients.

The center will accept most major insurance plans, as well as Medicaid and Medicaid HMO insurance plans. It will also offer a sliding-fee scale payment plan for the uninsured or under-insured.

“The city of Franklin looks forward to a long and prosperous relationship with [Southeastern Virginia Health System],” said mayor-elect Frank Rabil. “We want to continue to be a business-inclusive community.”

Franklin Community Health Center is open Monday through Friday, and appointments with healthcare providers can be scheduled immediately.
