WINDSOR
Jessica Harding was promoted to principal of Georgie D. Tyler Middle School in the coming school year, Superintendent of Isle of Wight County Schools Dr. Jim Thornton announced on Thursday.

Thornton confirmed Harding’s appointment at the Isle of Wight County School Board meeting, held in the auditorium of the school Harding will take charge of in the fall.

Having formerly served as assistant principal, she became an educator because of an admiration for her own teachers and principals.

“I have had many educational figures that have influenced me throughout my life,” Harding said, “many of them I keep in touch with today.”

“It’s very humbling to be trusted with such an enormous responsibility,” she continued. “I can’t express the joy and excitement.”

Harding said she looks forward to creating a positive environment that fosters growth and learning.

“I want to do everything I can to help my students and teachers do their best and to create a positive climate for education,” she said.
