BOYKINS — On Saturday, June 4, 2016, God called to eternal rest our loved one, Emmett Lee Granger.
“Bird,” as he was fondly called, was born on May 5, 1952, to the late Mary and Urquhart Granger.
At an early age, he joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Newsoms, and attended Southampton County Public Schools. He continued his education at Paul D. Camp Community College and earned a certificate in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration repair.
He began his work career with Narricot Industries, and was later employed with the Union Camp Corp. (particleboard) for more than 30 years.
Bird enjoyed music, fishing and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
He was predeceased by one brother, Rudolph.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Brenda; one son, Carlos; one grandson, Dylan; one sister, Hilda; one brother, Phil; father-in-law, Thomas; five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law four devoted nieces, Gevonia, Gilda, Candace and Tasha; other nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of other relatives, friends and one close friend, Mitchell Pearson.
The funeral will be at noon on Saturday, June 11, in Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremiah Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Care Memorial Gardens.
Engram Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and viewing will be on Friday, June 10, from noon to 8 p.m.
