GATES, N.C. — Timothy James “Tim” Parker, 89, of 35 Gatlington Road, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia.
Mr. Parker was born in Gates County on May 22, 1927, and was one of 10 children born to the late Thomas B. and Emma Dudley Parker.
Retired from Union Camp Corp. (now International Paper) in Franklin, VA after 33 years of employment, he also farmed, and raised poultry and cattle.
He was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Earl “Jim” Parker.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 68 years, Katherine Blythe Parker; two daughters, Nancy Parker Hughes and husband, Al, of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Janet Parker Roberson and husband, Ricky, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; a brother, Earl Parker of Franklinton, North Carolina; and a grandson, Parker Lane Roberson.
The graveside service will be on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, Virginia, and will be officiated by a family friend, the Rev. Wayne Gardner.
Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
