FRANKLIN — Joyce Ann Joyner, 75, passed away on May 24, 2016, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Joyce was born on July 6, 1940, in Gloucester, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her father, Edward C. Graf, mother, Ruth E. Parks, sister, Dorothy Lee and son, Butch E. Mears.

She is survived by her husband, David “Santa” Joyner; a niece, Luann Sitzman; cousin, Joan M. Corcoran; extended family; many close and special friends; and special traveling companions, Carl, Cindy and Taylor Ferguson.

She was a loyal friend and dedicated wife who uplifted others with her dry sense of humor. Joyce was always willing to help others, and was a past member of Aragona Village Lodge No. 684 Women of the Moose, North Carolina Beach Buggy Association, and Committee Member for the Franklin/Southampton Relay for Life. She served as past president and secretary/treasurer to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 4411, Franklin, Virginia.

A very special thanks to Dr. Daniel Peak and staff, the staff of Southampton Memorial Hospital and the 3rd Floor Skilled Care Team.

Joyce especially loved her Sentara Home Health Care Team of Angela Vaughan Burris, Crystal Baker-Moretz, Tracey Knight and Virginia Parrish.

The private memorial service will be held at a later date.
