The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk on Thursday revealed that the two people found dead in their Southampton County home in early February was an apparent murder-suicide.

Medical examiner Donna Price said that Vanessa Raiford, 59, suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and that her death was ruled a homicide. Donald Raiford, 64, also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, but his death was ruled a suicide. The couple was discovered by a family member in their home in the 22000 block of Southampton Parkway on the afternoon of Feb. 8.

Southampton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Major Gene Drewery said in February that the department was not looking for any suspects.
