FRANKLIN — Karen Marie Biggs of Forest Pine Road passed away on May 12, 2016, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

On May 27, 1961, she was born in Ansonville, North Carolina, to Annie Vera Little and Bobby Pratt.

Karen was nurtured and cared for by her mother and stepfather, William T. Lomax.

Karen was a member of First Baptist Church in Ansonville, where she served as an usher and as a member of the church choir.

She was a graduate of Bowman Senior High School in 1979. Later, she became a licensed Cosmetologist.

Karen met and married Samuel Bernard Biggs and relocated her residency to Franklin.

For seven years, she was a Certified Nursing Assistant at East Pavilion Nursing Facility.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather and brother, Robert Pratt Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Biggs; daughter Reneisha DeBerry (Shawndrell) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one grandchild, Vangie DeBerry; stepsons, Lonzie Griffin, Quincy Biggs; one sister, Valarie Pratt; six brothers, Willie D. Crawford, William C. Lomax, Gary T. Lomax, Frederick D. Lomax, Edwin W. Lomax and Douglas Pratt; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a godchild, Y’anna “Tah-bugg” Vincent; nieces, nephews and many cousins.

The homegoing celebration will be on Monday, May 16, at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Grove Baptist Church, 35441 S. Quay Road, Franklin, with the pastor, Bishop Robert E. Duck, delivering the eulogy.

On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 11:30 a.m.

The committal and benediction will be held in Ansonville at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
