Oak Street Seniors hold Mother’s Day program

The Oak Street Senior Citizens program held its annual Mothers Day Program on Thursday, May 5, at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Program chair Mrs. Lottie Holland served as the Mistress of Ceremony. Mrs. Holland opened the program followed by Scripture by Sylvia Riddick and prayer by Minister Odessa Anderson. The seniors had invited a host of community citizens and members of the senior program at the Nike Park site to attend this activity.

Special awards were presented to the following: From left to right, Lottie Holland, Julia Irene Johnson, the oldest member of Oak Street seniors, Margie G. Special music was provided by the Murphy Brothers and friends. Dicon Ray appeared on the program to provide a series of laughs and jokes. A solo was sung by Ashley Bryant.

After lunch was served, Holland presented awards to the oldest mother, youngest mother and the mother with the most amount of children. She closed the program giving much thanks to her committee and all that played any part in the success of the program.
