FRANKLIN
The Franklin Police Department is recommending that firearms not be left unattended in vehicles, especially unlocked vehicles, due to a recent rise in theft of firearms within the city.

There have been five firearms stolen from vehicles on the north side of Franklin, all which occurred while vehicles were parked at residences.

On April 7, a shotgun and a rifle were taken from the 1500 block of Clay Street. On May 1, a pistol was taken from the 700 block of Canterbury Court. On May 3, a pistol and rifle were taken in the 200 block of Woodland Drive.

Franklin police are asking anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to call the department immediately. They are also asking residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times in order to safeguard their property and, hopefully, keep them from becoming victims of crime.
