COURTLAND

A Suffolk man is reported dead following a single vehicle accident that became a fatality in Southampton County, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.

She reported the details late Thursday afternoon after notification had been made to family members of Nathan Randolph Teele, 77, of the 100 block of Robin Lane.

Anaya stated the accident occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Route 58, east of Route 714, in the county.

Teele was reportedly driving eastbound in his 2007 Ford Escape when he apparently ran off the road and sideswiped a guardrail; Teele died at the scene.

The accident is under investigation to determine if the cause was medical related, she added.
