Waking up and shaking up!

To the Editor:

For the 11th year, area citizens are gathering to honor the Lord as we observe together our National Day of Prayer at the Franklin Armory Field Stadium. The date for this year’s prayer rally is Thursday, May 5, at 7 p.m. Our national theme for this 65th National Day of Prayer is “WAKE UP AMERICA.” Our theme Scripture is Isaiah 58:1A (NIV), which states, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”

It’s my pleasure to cordially invite you and your family to come for this heartfelt occasion of worship and prayer. In times of uncertainty and crisis, it’s imperative to seek the Lord and to remind ourselves that Jesus Christ is Lord universally. He is offering salvation and redemption to this world. To that end, we will gather in the spirit of II Chronicles 7:14 to pray for our nation and our community, including public officials who serve on a national, state or local level.

We will meet in the stands of Armory Field Stadium and we wia stand and pray together as one in the Lord. Last year, we had a record number of 54 different local churches represented. Again this year, there will be people with diversity of church membership united in prayer, believing God to pour out His Holy Spirit in the United States of America. Children and teenagers will participate in the rally. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be held inside the National Guard Armory Gymnasium. We are better because we have prayed together.

See you at the rally!
