Getting to know your candidates

Published 10:29 am Wednesday, April 20, 2016

On Tuesday, a candidate questionnaire was sent out to the four City of Franklin candidates who are running opposed in the upcoming election in May. We have asked the candidates TO fill it out and have it back to us so we can publish their answers in this weekend’s edition of the paper.

Just in case you may not know who is running, or may have forgot, we will tell you again.

Greg McLemore (current Ward 3 representative) and Frank Rabil (current Ward 6 representative) are running for mayor. Mona Murphy (current Ward 4 representative) is running for reelection in her seat against Lindwood Johnson. Barry Cheatham (Ward 1 representative) and Benny Burgess (Ward 2 representative) are both seeking reelection for their seats. However, they are running unopposed.

The questions we have asked pertain to the current state of the City, as well as what the future of the City may look like, along with several other issues.

As you may have noticed in our last edition of the paper and this edition you hold in your hands, Letters to the Editor endorsing candidates are starting to come in.

We encourage you, if you are City resident, to send us a letter with your opinion on the candidates.

Let the public know what you like, what you don’t like, what you are concerned about and anything else pertaining to the candidates and the election.

These are the people who represent you, so we encourage you to get out and get to know your candidates. We also encourage you, when the time comes, to get out and vote.

It’s important and, as cliché as it sounds, the future of the City of Franklin is in your hands.
