COURTLAND
There’s $50,000 still waiting to be claimed for the Powerball last autumn. According to the Virginia Lottery, the winning ticket for the Oct. 24 drawing was sold at the 7-Eleven on 23138 Main St., Courtland. But the ticket is valid for only 180 days following the drawing, and the time to cash in is coming to a close. The winner has until 5 p.m. Thursday, April 21 to make himself or herself known.

The winning numbers are 20-31-56-60-64, and the Powerball number was 2. According to the Virginia Lottery’s website, this ticket matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number.

If the ticket is not turned in before then, the money will be dedicated to the Virginia Literary Fund. This includes funding teacher retirement or upgrading technology in public schools.
