CARRSVILLE—Luther Eugene Butler, 80, passed away April 11, 2016. Eugene was born in Sedley, a son of the late Jack and Hope Butler and was also predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Rosamond Brinkley Butler and three brothers, Larry, Leslie Ray and Dale N. Butler.
He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and retired from Union Camp Corporation. He was a Navy veteran and a former Scoutmaster with Carrsville Troop 37, former Carrsville Ruritan Club member and a former Lieutenant with the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman until the age of 78 and had been a member of the Carrsville Community Hunt Club and the Bronco Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Eugenia Griffin (Chuck), one son, Jimmy Butler, one sister, Dawn B. Saunders, four grandchildren, Penny Butler, Charlie Griffin, JoAnne Griffin and Kelsey Butler and former daughter-in-law, Teresa Church Butler.
A funeral will be conducted at 11AM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in Wright Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Tuesday) from 7 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department.
