FRANKLIN
Mrs. Sarah J. Parker of O’Berry Church Road, Franklin, VA departed this life on March 10, 2016 while a patient in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born on October 14, 1957 to the late Theodore R. and Sallie Ann Gray Jenkins in Norfolk, VA.

After more than 20 years of teaching, Sarah retired from Headstart on February 1, 2011. She was a member of Holy Way Temple of Faith, Portsmouth, VA where she served on the Pastor’s Aide Ministry and the Adult Choir.

Sarah attended and graduated from Southampton Public Schools. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Norfolk State University.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Richard Parker; one daughter, Reverend Cherese Parker Freeman (Anthony); two sons, Vershon Parker, Sr. (Reshawn) and Richard Parker, Jr.; one sister, Beverly Blue; and one grandchild, Vershon Parker, Jr.

A service celebrating Sarah’s life will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM, Apostolic Faith Church of God, 680 Oak Street, Franklin, with Dr. Harvey C. Thomas delivering the message of comfort; Elder Ronnie Warren is host pastor. On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 12:00 Noon. The committal and benediction will be held in Southampton Memorial Park. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M.
